Pet Portrait Comissions

I take commissions for heirloom-quality oil paintings of beloved family pets. I will work with you to choose a great photo reference or we can schedule a complimentary photo shoot with my portrait photographer husband Joe Portolano.

Chat with me online or in person in our home studio in Howard County, Maryland, or visit the Lana Portolano/Canine Humane Network pet portrait gallery at Highland Veterinary Hospital [map] to see examples of my work.

If you enjoy heartwarming pet photos, check out my Facebook Artist page for process shots and fun puppy home visits of my current clients. Both Joe and I make pictures of adoptable rescue dogs at Canine Humane Network in Howard County, Maryland.

Prices start at $500 for paintings up to 11×15 or $750 for a 16×20 painting.

Blue Tick Mama, 24×36 inches. (Swipe to see the photo reference, not taken by me and all I had to work with.) This sweet hound dog came to Canine Humane Network with a big litter of newborns. I wanted to capture the oil-slick black of her shiny coat and make a mysterious background to echo her mother’s role. The puppy butts squirmed all over the canvas and were fun to sort out. Proceeds from its sale at auction later this year will benefit Canine Humane Network in Howard County, Maryland.
