Intro to Portrait Drawing & Painting

Saturdays 10-noon, July 25-Aug 22, 2026 ***FILLED***

This class is taught in my home studio in Fulton, Maryland. Learn the fundamentals of facial structure and how to capture the likeness of your subject in dry media with an introduction to oil paint. Beginner friendly but students with experience welcome.

Painting Rubens' Lions

Upcoming: dates TBA

Taught in conjunction with my 2027 solo show "Learning from Masters/Learning from Life." Students will paint master copies of lions from Rubens' beloved work "Daniel in the Lions Den" in this two-day workshop. The process will cover drawing transfer, color mixing, oil painting in layers, and methods of painting fur that will work for wildlife and pet portraiture. Some basic oil painting experience helpful.
