One-on-One Art Tutoring

Take your drawing and painting skills to the next level with customized instruction tailored specifically to your goals. Whether you are building fundamentals from scratch or looking to refine your technique, these one-on-one sessions provide guidance in a supportive environment.

Each session is 1 hour and 15 minutes, in-person or on Zoom. Contact Lana at lanaportolano.com to schedule. (Payment options are in the web store.)

Instruction focuses primarily on working from observation in drawing or oil painting (with watercolor also available). These sessions are driven by your needs. You can have:

  • Customized, step-by-step guidance for drawing, oil painting, or watercolor.

  • Tailored individual assignments so you can move at your own pace--ideal if you want to accelerate past a group or continue studying specific subjects (like portraiture) while your group moves on to other topics.

  • Critiques across multiple pieces in one session or comprehensive critique on a more ambitious work.

Book one session or multiple sessions to fit your schedule.

Students will paint master copies of lions from Rubens' beloved work "Daniel in the Lions Den" in this two-day workshop. The process will cover drawing transfer, color mixing, oil painting in layers, and methods of painting fur that will work for wildlife and pet portraiture. Some basic oil painting experience helpful.
